Association of Rhizospheric/Endophytic Bacteria with Plants: A Potential Gateway to Sustainable Agriculture
نویسندگان
چکیده
Application of associative bacteria for sustainable agriculture holds immense potential. These bacteria are known to enhance growth and yield of plants by fixing atmospheric nitrogen, solubilization of phosphate, production of phytohormones and siderophores, possession of antagonistic activity as well as reducing the level of stress ethylene in host plants. Colonization of these bacteria can be tracked by tagging them with certain molecular markers such as βglucuronidase (gus) or green fluorescent protein (gfp) followed by electron microscopy or laser scanning confocal microscopy. Associative bacteria and endophytes may express genes differentially to colonize and establish the plant interior. They may also use ‘quorum sensing’ molecules for colonization process. Present review aims to highlight various plant growth promoting properties, ecology and updates of molecular mechanisms involved in interaction between associative bacteria and plants as well as immune responses triggered by these bacteria in plants.

Isolation and Characterization of Nodule Associated Bacteria from Chickpea and their Potential for Plant Growth Promotion
Chickpea (Cicer arietinum) is an important legume crop grown under rainfed agriculture in India. It’s economic success relies on symbiotic nitrogen fixation (SNF) with root nodulating bacterium Mesorhizobium ciceri. These bacteria regularly interact with other rhizospheric microorganisms as well as host endophytic microorganisms. The endophytic bacteria reside latently or colonize the plant tis...

This review covers the history on Biological Nitrogen Fixation (BNF) in Graminaceous plants grown in Brazil, and describes research progress made over the last 40 years, most of which was coordinated by Johanna Döbereiner. One notable accomplishment during this period was the discovery of several nitrogen-fixing bacteria such as the rhizospheric (Beijerinckia fluminensis and Azotobacter paspali...

A number of toxic synthetic organic compounds can contaminate environmental soil through either local (e.g., industrial) or diffuse (e.g., agricultural) contamination. Increased levels of these toxic organic compounds in the environment have been associated with human health risks including cancer. Plant-associated bacteria, such as endophytic bacteria (non-pathogenic bacteria that occur natura...

Endophytes are important resources of bioactive compounds and due to their potential in theproduction of secondary metabolites, they are regarded as a potential reservoir ofbiotechnological applications. In this study, the bioactivity of bacteria and yeasts endophytesresiding in Thymus sp. was evaluated. During April to October 2011, symptomless and healthytissues of Thymus sp. were collected. ...
متن کاملRole of bacterial biofertilizers in agriculture and forestry
Many rhizospheric bacterial strains possess plant growth-promoting mechanisms. These bacteria can be applied as biofertilizers in agriculture and forestry, enhancing crop yields. Bacterial biofertilizers can improve plant growth through several different mechanisms: (i) the synthesis of plant nutrients or phytohormones, which can be absorbed by plants, (ii) the mobilization of soil compounds, m...
